Half-Life Uplink

Half-Life: Uplink is a demo version of Half-Life, released on February 12, 1999. The location and scenario in uplink do not appear in the retail Half-Life game.

The Uplink chapters were cut during Half-Life's development phase, and roughly fit in prior to or during the Lambda Core chapter. They were, however, strongly revised for the demo release. Uplink also includes the same Hazard Course from the full release of Half-Life.

I loved this, I remember playing though it 100’s of times back in 1999 as I couldn’t afford the full game of Half Life. It got me hooked on the Half Life series!

FarCry for Free

Yes, one of the most popular games by our friends at CryTek and Ubisoft has been release as a free "Ad supported" download. Synopsis from Wikipedia: "Far Cry is a first-person shooter video game developed by Crytek Studios from Germany and published by Ubisoft on March 23, 2004 for Microsoft Windows. Far Cry sold 730,000 units within four months of release[1] and has sold, as of Jan 2009, 2.9 million copies worldwide. It received positive reviews upon release, and critics labelled it as one of the best first-person shooters for PC. The original game has since spawned several console ports and a movie." Now you too can download and play the game for FREE!!! But there is a catch, you have to be registered as in the United States. Fallout 1 & 2

Since Fallout 3 got released last week, I thought it would be nice to show you where the series started off. Fallout plays in a world in which a nuclear war has devastated the land. You live in a vault, which are bunkers that keep you safe from radiation and other threads in the outside world. In the first game, the water chip in your vault is broken and you need to get a new one or all of the people living in your vault will die. Do you travel to another vault to find one. Of course you run into a lot of things while trying to accomplish this.

In the second game, the guy you played in the first game has been exiled from his vault, because of his exposure to the outside world. He founds a new village and, being a descendant of him, you grow up in this village. In this village there is a drought going on and it's up to you to find a GECK, a Garden of Eden Creation Kit to save your village.


To install:
Unpack the games to your hard drive first. Then either mount the games with DAEMON Tools, or burn them to a CD. After doing this, the CD should automatically show you a menu in which you can choose to install and play the games.

Dungeon Keeper 2 [Full Version 1.7]

Dungeon Keeper II

This copy has had the disc security stripped out, so no more problems with the game failing to recognise the CD. It has been patched to version 1.7 automatically, with all three official Bullfrog bonus packs slipstreamed, as well as the map editor. The CD includes a LiveCD play option so that the game can be played on any PC without needing to install it, though the tradition install & play functionality is still there.


Windows Vista / XP Users
As you can guess, this game is old and designed for Windows 95/98 and not for the newer NT based Windows versions. If you have issues running the game like I did, I used the following Compatibility settings:

OS: Windows 98
Run as Administrator (Vista Users)

You can access these settings by right clicking on a shortcut and selecting the compatibility tab.


Wine Users (Mac / Linux)
This game is confirmed working on the lastest build (0.9 at time of writing).

The final goal is defeating the Adversary, the undisputed king of Death Rally. This game was updated for modern operating systems and re-released as freeware by Remedy Entertainment in 2009.

Croc 2, called Croc Adventure in Japan (working title Croc 2: Kingdoms of the Gobbos), is a video game released in 1999, is the sequel to Croc: Legend of the Gobbos

Story:

Previously, a baby crocodile was found by the Gobbos who inhabit the Gobbo Islands. Rufus, the king of the Gobbos adopted the crocodile, and with the help of the rest of the tribe, raised him, teaching him the ways of the Gobbos.

Baron Dante arrived in the valley where the Gobbos lived. Angered by the happy Gobbos, he and his Dantinis swept into the Gobbo Valley and captured the Gobbos. King Rufus was taken by Dante himself and kept in a cage inside his Tower of Terror.

Croc managed to avoid being caught but he was left alone. He knew he had to help the Gobbos any way that he could and save the King from Baron Dante. After having a long journey, Croc managed to rescue the Gobbos and destroy the Baron and save their King. Everything was right again in Gobbo Valley and the Gobbos celebrated by erecting a statue of Croc in their Valley.

Now after Baron Dante was destroyed, Croc and the Gobbos resumed their lives of playing. But in the mean time, the evil Dantinis plotted the return of Baron Dante. Unfortunately, an unlucky Inventor Gobbo got captured when he witnessed Dante's return.

Back at Gobbo Valley, Croc was playing at the beach, and found a bottle washed up on the shore. He picked it up and he found a message with a baby crocodile footprint on it. The message explained that the senders were looking for their son. Croc was surprised. He took the message to King Rufus who read it and eventually told Croc that he would need to go to a far away land where there were other Gobbos who might be able to help him to find his parents.

Then all the Gobbos made a see-saw. Croc stood on one end and a Gobbo pushed a boulder on to the other end to bring Croc to the distant mainland, where his search began.

Compatibility:

Croc 2 should work on any versions of Windows from 95 to Windows 7, it will even work without any problems on the 64bit versions of Windows Vista / Windows 7. Just install the game and play.

As of today, the first Red Alert game has become downloadable for free from the EA website, to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the Command & Conquer franchise. For those of you who can't wait for Red Alert 3, have some fun with this while you wait, and see where the Red Alert series started off.
